Hiking above 1000 metres completely self sufficient, carrying all your food, water and accommodation for 3 days can be a real challenge of fitness, resolve as well as logistics. But its all worth it when you see the incredible views, breath the fresh air and feel the satisfying ache in your body as you drift off to sleep next to your campfire.

 

NOMAD will provide a guide or simply point you in the right direction as you leave the village of montendry and head up wards. Stop at fort Montgilbert for a hot brew or cut across country and head for the wilder, remote areas of the mountains.

 

But remember to keep your radio with you at all times; NOMAD instructors will be checking on your position throughout the day and when you make camp. Safety is a pre-requisite when operating at altitude in this terrain.
